Feyenoord club has won the Rinus Michels Award for best academy in the country multiple times, including five years in a row after 2009. The club has a rich history of producing top players such as Robin van Persie, Dirk Kuyt, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Georginio Wijnaldum, Tyrell Malacia and Stefan de Vrij, amongst many others. At the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, no other club had produced more players at the tournament.

Feyenoord – The Club
Feyenoord, founded in 1908, is a professional football club from Rotterdam that plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch soccer. It’s one of three clubs in Holland that has dominated Dutch soccer historically, along with PSV and long-standing rivals, Ajax. Feyenoord are recognised as the Netherland’s most passionately supported club and being the two biggest teams from the two biggest cities in the Netherlands, the clash between Feyenoord and Ajax is known as ‘De Klassieker’.
Feyenoord plays its home games at De Kuip, commonly known as ‘The Tub’ which has a capacity of over 51,000, the second largest stadium in the Netherlands. The club have a very proud relationship with former players as you can see in the museum (on the stadium tour), with many going on to adopt coaching roles at the club.
The Training Facilities
Feyenoord’s training ground, Varkenoord is situated next to the De Kuip stadium. He facilities include one full-size 3G pitch, along with three full size grass pitches and one 7 a side pitch. There is also a full size pitch with small stadium. Varkenoord is the home base of Feyenoord Academy, the women’s team and the amateur football club SC Feyenoord, as well as the first team squad.
Groups can watch first team sessions at Varkenoord subject to consent from the club’s coaching staff, the complex also includes changing rooms plus a large café and bar area.
